PRAY for the Paralympics March 12-21, 2010
The general response on the street to our efforts has been very positive. PRAY that as we enter the Paralympic Games that we continue to have an impact for Christ as we serve.

As the moon so beautifully reflects the light of the sun over Vancouver in the photo above, so should we reflect the light of the Son as we travel to Vancouver for the Paralympic games. "LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE" Matthew 5:16

TEAM REPORTS
We made all connections even w/ the 1 hr. delay in Jackson.
Bumpy coming down in ATL - storm going through there. We made it ok.
Seattle rainy, Vancouver rainy. Made it to the church and we have great accommodations.
Linda Deddens and I are roomies. Bob, Cindy, and Linda's checked luggage didn't make it, but they delivered it on Saturday.
We (Bob, Cindy, Linda and I) went to Stanley Park, walked around, and took pictures. Yes it was raining. We met a couple from Illinois and gave them a MTG pin and had a chance to talk w/ them. Then back to the church to meet the rest of the group: Don and Martha Goss / Katie and Ronnine Lynch. We really have a great group - we all love to laugh. Bob took us to Lynn Park to the Rain Forest and we hiked 1000 ft down and across a suspension bridge (Linda was not thrilled about the bridge) and then through a muddie rain forest and walked back UP stairs for 1000 ft to the top. We were ready to kill Bob. But all had a great time and alot of laughs. We met 3 young Japanese girls and one young man from Australia. Had a good talk w/ them and left pins w/ them. 2 of the girls were high school graduates who'd come to Vancouver to learn English. There is a school here for that. The other was a med student. The Austrialian never made it clear as to what he was doing.
We had training in the afternoon for the MTG Teams from MS, TX and OK and the YWAM's. Will tell you more about that later. We trained from about 2:30 until about 10 p.m. Was not boring at all. We are being fed really well. Afraid none of us will loose weight.
Continue to pray for us and we get ready to get out there and do God's bidding.
Yours in Christ - Etta and the MS More Than Gold Team.
The weather this morning was beautiful! Cold and sunny. We had our daily devotional and then had Sunday School. After that we attended church. Beautiful service. They had a potluck lunch and we were invited. We had time to really fellowship with the church members of Westlynn Baptist Church. This was a special time for all of us.
That afternoon we went to UBC (University of British Columbia) and Thunderbird Dome where sledge hockey was being held. There we handed the out the following items in the rain and cold: 600 Visitor/Hospitality Bags (inside rain ponchos, hand warmers, tooth brushes, etc. and MTG information); 200 Pocket Guides; 150 MTG Pins.
Several team members were able to really talk to some of the people. One that really was interesting to me was when a team member related to us that she was wondering what are we doing out in this rain. Then along comes a young man asking her what was really so important to bring her out in the rain. Well, she told him and now she no longer questions the rain. God had put her there for him.
The people have been very receptive and very nice to us. They also appreciate what we are doing.
Continue to pray for our health, safety in travel and that God continues to work through us to plant the seed of salvation on this very fertile ground. We felt we had a really good day.

What a day!! Whistler!!!
We are headed up the mountain to Whistler to watch the short run of down hill skiing and meet the people. Understand I know nothing about skiing. When we arrived we just split up and went around welcoming people and finding out where they were from and gave away the MTG Pins. Some would give us pins in return. We were not there to trade pins - just to give away. This gave us an opportunity to explain who we were and what the pins stood for. This was fun for me as I'm sure it was for others. We met people from all over the world. Got to meet some of the athletes ( who are disabled) and share with them what we are doing. During the actual ski runs we watched the skiers. What impressed me the most was the fact that no matter what country you came from everyone cheers you on. This is a pretty remarkable group of people. I like them alot.
After the skiing we went into Whistler to walk around and hand out more pins and greet people. The people are really very nice here. There are people who collect and trade the pins so this gives us a really good opening to talk to people.
The snow is melting and they need snow. So, if you could include that in your prayers it'd sure help.
We handed out today in the sunshine and cold the following: 45 pins; some pocket guides (not many); had 1 prayer request; Shared the MTG story with about 10 people ( we really have to wait until someone asks us to explain the pins or what they mean before we say anything).
Prayer request:
- Lindsay, 30 yrs old and not a Christian. She has had cancer since she was 5 yrs. old. She needs our prayers.
- Also, her mother who is a Christian needs our prayers.
- As always, continue to pray for all of us.

Today was a really beautiful day in Vancouver. The sun came out and it was cool to cold. We took the Sea Bus across the bay to catch the Sky Train and then a bus to Vancouver. They have an excellent public transportation system. We had us a captive audience while taking advantage of their transportation system. Here we were able to share the MTG story and tell of Jesus Christ. We were able to listen to their story and just get to know the people. We saw the outdoor Olympic Cauldron near the bay. It was really awesome to see. There we met and talked with the people and some of the volunteers. We had a good time. Later we headed to Thunderbird Dome at UBC for the USA/Japan sledge hockey. Of course we won 6 to 0. They are really fierce when they play. While enjoying the game we were able to talk to the people around us and explain what we were all about. I am in awe of how the people cheer for both sides. They are so supportive of all the athletes - no matter the team your country plays. You see sportsmanship at its finest.
There were several really good one on one with the people. One of our men talked to 2 Jews and told one that his best friend was a Jew.
Another time a lady, w/ a 2 seated stroller, that had a little boy and girl in it and another little 4 yr. old daughter, asked us to watch her children while she moved her car. We did and she was given a Jesus movie, Book of Mark and a Word of Hope. The people really are friendly.
We gave out the following:
Pins - 27
Jesus movie - 1
Word of Hope - 1
Book of Mark - 1
Pocket Guides - Many
This is a really wonderful ministry. A great learning experience and a lot of fun. Thank you for the prayers - they are working.

Today is a free day.
Met with Alan Au, retired director of MTG. After meeting and praying with Alan and Kevin we were left to ourselves for the day. Some went sightseeing and some slept in and others went shopping.
While we are out we also take the time to talk to the people and if given a chance to witness. We aren't allowed to just talk about Jesus and the plan for salvation. We have to wait for opportunity or door to open. This could be by someone asking what the pins represent or asking about the MTG logo on our jackets or just by us handing out hospitaly bags and hot chocolate.
There are 2 other teams with us: Texas and Oklahoma We are all starting to bond now - they are a great bunch to share our lodging . We all went to La Casa Gilato (218 flavors) for ice cream. We all had a blast.
We will be traveling to Whistler in the morning. Please pray for our safe travel up and down the mountain, peak to peak prayer walking and for those that stay in Whistler to prayer walk and give out more pins. This will be a very long day for us with 4 hrs of traveling up and down the mountain.
Please ask God to intercede on the behalf of 2 team members. They have faced some difficult times and need an extra dose of God's grace and mercy. Continue to bless Martha Goss and the wonderful devotion she faithfully gives every evening. That God continues to open doors for us to share God's love with them.
Thank you for your prayers.

We have been truly bless with beautiful weather. Sunny and cool to cold. Today we drove to Whistler - a gorgeous drive. Katie Lynch has been our (Linda Deddens and myself) driver. She is an excellent driver. Once in Whistler we broke up into groups to prayer walk through the town or go up the mountain to prayer walk. Those that went up the mountain went from peak to peak.
While prayer walking we saw the memorial to the Norwegian that was killed while doing the luge. It was a nice memorial and left a new testament at the sight.
We just mainly prayer walked and waited for the medal ceremony to start. The medal ceremony was neat and l personally loved seeing the flags raised. Yes, when the National Anthem was played for the USA I held my head high and sang as loud as I could.
We did not stay for the entire award ceremony because when the sun goes down on the mountains the temp does drop. It was so cold it hurt, but it was worth it.
Didn't get back to Vancouver until about mid-night. Made it down safely.

Bless with another beautiful day. The weather has really been remarkable.
Today we gave out hot chocolate, water, hospitality bags and pins. People had their pictures made w/ an Olympic torch that we provided.
Regent College, Christian College, allowed us to set up our tables on their property. Good location.
We had a great time talking to the people and just being hospitable. We were able to tell many what was something more important than gold - eternal life. Many pamphlets and new testaments given out.
I finally got to witness to a young man that was Asian. He was very interested and listen to me and took some information. Did not make a decision at that time.
There are many such stories and sometimes people just needed a friendly smile or someone with which to share their story. It's been an honor to be here and share the word of God.

Another beautiful day.
Our team of young women from Texas left this morning for home. We miss our girls.
This afternoon we'll say good-by to 4 from Oklahoma.
We all got along so well.
Gave out hot-chocolate, more bags and pins. Was even better today. USA played Japan for the Gold Medal in sledge hockey. AND who do you think won?! The USA of course!
We had and early day as this was our last working day. We are now packing or trying to stuff everything in our suitcases. We all leave tomorrow for Seattle, Washington. We'll attend church before we leave and then head to the airport. Don, Martha, Katie and Ronnie will stay through Wednesday. Bob, Cindy, Etta and Linda fly out at 1:15 a.m. Monday. Please pray for safe travel and health and that all connections are made.
See you soon.
