This message is for you. It's all about being
connected to God. It's about the kind of life that is filled with
meaning
and
purpose
and significance.
The
good news is that God created you and loves you very much. "God
so loved the world. . ." John 3:16. Not only does God
love you but He desires to connect with you in a personal relationship.
The
bad news is that you are disconnected from God because of sin.
The Bible says we are all sinners and that our sin has separated
us from
God. Our sin makes it impossible for us to have a relationship with
God.
The Bible puts it this way, "For all
have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans
3:23
The Bible also says, "The consequences
of sin is death." Romans
6:23. That means eternal separation from God.
The
Bible tells us that Jesus Christ has made a way for us to be connected
to God. He did something about our sin problem. "God demonstrated
His love for us that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans
5:8
Put another way, "Christ died for our sins...to bring us to God."
1 Peter 3:18
Through Jesus, salvation is offerred to us as
a FREE GIFT. You cannot earn it. Salvation is yours when you are
connected to God through
receiving Jesus Christ. The Bible says, "For by grace you have
been saved through faith - and this not of yourself, it is the gift
of God - not by good deeds
so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
The
price has already been paid for your sins. Now you can experience
a connection with God and receive His gift of eternal salvation
through receiving Jesus Christ. The Bible puts it this way in John
1:12, "to all who received Him...He
gave the right to become children of God."
The Bible
uses different words to describe receiving Jesus:
Believing in Jesus (Acts 16:31)
Coming to Jesus (Matthew 11:28)
Confessing Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9)
Do you want to connect to God and receive new
life in Jesus? The Bible says, "Whoever calls upon the name
of the Lord shall be saved."
Romans 10:13
If you want to call upon the Lord to save you
and give you new life in Christ you can sincerely pray this prayer
to God and know for
sure that He has heard you.
Father,
I admit that I am a sinner and cannot save myself. I believe that
Jesus came to the earth to die in my place and to pay for my sins.
I believe that He rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and I
turn to you as my only hope of salvation. I commit my life to you,
to
live for you, and follow you. I accept the free gift of eternal life.
If this prayer is the sincere desire of your heart,
welcome to an eternal connection to God!
One
of the first things you should do as a new believer in Christ is
to connect with a local church. When you meet regularly with a group
of people to worship and study God's word together, your faith will
GROW as God intended.
The Bible teaches baptism through immersion as
an outward expression of the change God has made in your life.
We suggest that you begin with the Gospel of John and read a chapter
each day. As you read the Bible, God speaks to you through the pages
of His Word. Spend time every day in prayer. Just be yourself and
tell Him what you are thinking and feeling. He will hear you and
be there for you.
If you live in the Jackson area, First Baptist
Church invites you to be a part of our family. To talk to someone
